Historical Notes

January 1: Northern and Southern Nigeria were united.
March 7: After becoming a principality, Albania adopted a flag with a more detailed eagle.
May 11: Nyasaland was granted a new badge.
July 30: Sierra Leone was granted a new badge.
August 12: Russia adopted a civil flag for private use.
November 3: Kuwait was separated from the Ottoman Empire as a British protectorate. The Sheikh of Kuwait insisted on continuing to use the Turkish flag.
November 19: After a diplomatic incident where a British ship fired on a Kuwaiti ship thinking it was Turkish, the Sheikh of Kuwait acquiesced to adopting a distinct flag.
Sometime in 1914 (or maybe 1920?): Uganda was granted a colonial ensign.
