Historical Notes

February 15: Mongolia's independence from China was restored.
February 25: Georgia became a soviet republic and adopted a new flag.
Sometime around March: Hejaz switched around the white and green stripes on its flag.
April 11: Transjordan was made a separate state within the British Mandate of Palestine. It flew the same flag as Hejaz.
May 1: Jebel Druze was split off from the state of Damascus.

May 17: The U.S. Virgin Islands were granted a new flag.
May 19: Azerbaijan adopted a new flag with its state initials in the canton.
May 20: Georgia changed the design of its flag.
July 7: Ras al-Khaimah became independent from Sharjah.
July 10: The white disc was removed from the badge of Gibraltar.
August 14: Tannu Tuva declared independence from China.
August 23: The Kingdom of Iraq was established under British mandate. It flew a version of the Hashemite flag used in Hejaz and Transjordan.
September 23: Bukhara changed the colour and shape of the crescent on its flag and replaced the Arabic script with Cyrillic.
October 5: Liechtenstein officially adopted a flag of red and blue, which had served as unofficial national colours for decades.
November 2: Jebel Shammar was annexed by Nejd.
Sometime in 1921: The white disc was removed from the badge of Kenya.
