Historical Notes

February 27: Antigua and Saint Christopher-Nevis-Anguilla became associated states of the United Kingdom and adopted new flags.
March 1: Saint Lucia and Dominica became associated states of the United Kingdom. Saint Lucia adopted a new flag.
March 3: Grenada became an associated state of the United Kingdom and adopted a new flag.
April 25: Swaziland became an autonomous protected state of the United Kingdom and adopted a flag.
April 30: Paraguay modified the design of its seal.
May 30: Saint Christopher-Nevis-Anguilla added a palm tree to its flag.
June 28: Burundi replaced the sorghum plant on its flag with three six pointed stars.
July 1: Ships in the Ryukyu Islands were granted the right to fly the Japanese flag topped by a triangular pennant.
November 30: South Arabia became independent from the United Kingdom as South Yemen.
Sometime in 1967: Sikkim adopted a new greatly simplified flag.
